AquaSixio

Cyril Rolando (AquaSixio or Six Inside) is a digital media artist that lives in France and works as a clinical psychologists. Drawing, for him, is a hobby. He uses colors over anatomic notions to expresses emotions. He started learning how to create digital artwork in 2003 and has grown over the years. For AquaSixio drawing is a form of therapy.

For his work I see colors, many shapes, and a minute attention to detail. He picks color over quality and I think that is perfectly alright. AquaSixio’s use of different shades of colors ranging from the lightest to the darkest colors are mixed onto the page in a way so that the viewer does not see it transitioning from color to color, they all blend together rather nicely but still stand out when needed.

These drawings are beautiful. I first came across his work two years ago when I first joined Tumblr and I was floored. The way he uses colors, animals, and ‘lost children’ (as he likes to call them) really touches me. When I look at his art work I feel what the characters in the piece feel. The colors chosen really allow ones mind to get sucked in and feel something. His artwork can make me cry and I think that is beautiful, being able to take someone on a journey like that. He doesn’t think of himself as an artist but if I were to actually become an artist I would want my art to be like his.

On his site he also has a retrospection of the past 8 years. through this you can see him grow and really become the artist he is today.

I kinda dont want to post this online.
Something went horribly wrong.

Sol Lewitt

Sol Lewitt (1928-2007) started creating art in the 1940’s, post-World War II he was one of the pioneers of Conceptual Art and Minimalism. This cool guy is credited for over 1,260 artworks ranging from pencil and chalk drawings to sculptures. Most of his works were created with simple shapes and colors, he used a geometric vocabulary.

Lewitt did not use the computer to generate any of his work but the way he viewed art, was one of program. His take on artistic authorship was one that ‘defined artistic practice by an artist’s ideas, not by the personal touch or mark of the artist’s hand.’ (Landmarks)

Sol Lewitts art, from what I’ve seen is expressive and bright yet with an underlay of meaning. The colors and shapes forming together to tell the viewer a story. When I stare at some of the pieces I seem to find myself making up stories in my head to where the art leads/ what the art is meant to mean.
